Mehendi is anytime love for females. Mehendi is done on various occasions like marriage, festivals, Kurva chauth etc. In India, one of the famous rituals is Mehendi rasom. Before marriage, bride/girl celebrates the mehndi ritual at her home. However in marriage also, both males and females apply Mehendi as a part celebration and to look beautiful. Mehendi can be applied to various parts of the body but maximum it is applied to the hands. Hence, in this article users will know what are the things we should do before applying mehendi to get the perfect dark mehendi stain / mehendi colour.
Wax your hand (ideally we recommend it should be done 2-3 days before the mehendi day):
Waxing is the procedure of removing hair from certain parts of the body. Waxing can be done on the arms, legs, eyebrows, face, back, abdomen and the pubic area which is commonly known as bikini waxing. It is one of the most popular methods for removing hair from different parts of the skin. It is found to be the most effective method to have a hair free skin for a long time.
You may apply lotion after the waxing process to keep the hand moist as you may use lotions like Caudalie,  Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Hand Crème, Lakme, Himalaya, Johnson n Johnson, Kai, Neotrogina, Clinique Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream etc
If the variety of waxes in your salon is confusing then The traditional hard or honey wax is popular as it works out cheaper than other options. But, we recommend Italian flavored wax (usually called Rica) and is available in different flavors like chocolate, vanilla etc. This wax isn’t too hot when applied and also helps remove tan and in-growth.
Hot wax: Contains honey, beeswax and other components. Removes hair with the help of fabric strips. Hard wax with same consistency hardens and can be taken off by hand. Cheaper in cost but not recommended for sensitive skin.
Flavoured wax: Milk, chocolate, aloe vera — costlier but advised for sensitive skin.
Homemade: Made by heating honey, sugar, lemon juice, also a great option for sensitive skin.
Hand cleaning process (should be done on the day of mehendi just before the mehendi application):
Wash your hands with soap and water before you apply henna. You can also use alcohol based lotion if your skin is oily, and to get the dark colour on your hands you can apply mehendi oil as well.
However, in many countries in the western world, their Food and Drug Administration (FDA) don’t recommend henna to be used directly on the skin. If you had an allergic reaction to henna avoid it totally. We also recommend that you can also do a patch test before applying it to your skin.
Note: Do not apply any cream or oil on your skin as it will act as a barrier, and minimize the mehendi absorption into your skin thus, may result is fade or dull mehendi colour/ mehendi stain
